The Spencil Art Prize Terms & Conditions
When you submit your artwork and details to enter this competition, you and all other entrants accept the Spencil Art Prize 2022 Terms & Conditions as set out here.
We recognise that children may be entered by their parents who accept these conditions on their behalf.
Eligibility
- All residents of Australia and New Zealand aged 13 years or younger as at the closing date of 16 February 2022 are eligible to enter this competition.
Artworks
- Submitted artworks can be of any ‘flat’ media - drawing, painting, collage, photography or computer art – that can be applied to textile product.
- Entries must be the entrant’s original work.
- No part of the artwork can be borrowed or copied.
- The artwork must not contain logos, or reference to any brand, licensed character or image e.g. a character from a movie, book, cartoon, comic, TV show, except Spencil's logos and other images.
- Entries must not contain any selfies or photographs of recognisable people or products.
- Entries containing any offensive material will be disqualified and will not be published for voting or be eligible to win.
Entries
- Entries must be submitted as a high-resolution JPEG or PNG image of the actual artwork.
- There is no limit to the number of entries from an individual entrant. Each new entry must be submitted by completing the entry form. Each entry will be judged separately.
- Entries open 12:00 AM AEST Wednesday 5 January 2022 and closes 11:59 PM Wednesday 16 February 2022
- Entries can be submitted up until 11:59 PM Wednesday 16 February 2022
- Entries will be uploaded via the Spencil website at spencil.com.au/artprize.
- To enter the Contest, contestants must register an account by filling in the entry form and upload their artwork files.
- Entries must be completed in accordance with the entry process set out above. No other method of entry will be accepted. Entries which do not meet these criteria may not be considered.
- Judging will commence 17 February 2022.
- Winners will be announced Friday 4 March 2022.
- Winners will be notified by email and announced via all Spencil social media channels.
- Judging will be conducted by a group of judges selected by Spencil. All winners are subject to final approval by Spencil Management.
- There will be two winners in total, one of each in the following categories: (1) 8 years of age and under and (2) 9 to 13 years of age.
- By entering this competition, you agree to be added to the Spencil Mailing List and receive promotional material
Prizes
There is one winner of each of the two prize categories – 8 years and under and 9 to 13 years.
Each Winner will receive
- A collaboration with Spencil’s in-house designers to produce one or more Spencil products in their design. Winning artists will work with Spencil designers in choosing appropriate products and further developing the designs to be best applied to those products.
- One of each product/s produced in their design.
- Acknowledgement of the artist behind the design in promotions
- $100 cash prize provided as a debit gift card, able to be used wherever major credit cards are accepted
- A Spencil Art Prize Award certificate
Each Winner’s school will receive
- A package of Spencil products including stationery and other school supplies to the retail value of $500.
- Products may be used at the discretion of the school for any purpose it chooses which may include using them within the school, as competition prizes or awards for students or as items to be sold or raffled as fundraising opportunities.
Prize Delivery
- Cash prizes, certificates and school packages will be dispatched in March 2022.
- Co-designed products will be dispatched in November 2022.
- Prizes will be sent to the delivery address provided by the winners.
- Prizes are not redeemable for cash, credit or product and no exchanges are offered. Spencil accepts no responsibility for any variation in the value of the prize (or part thereof).
- Spencil shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or for any personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
- Spencil takes no responsibility for prize damage or lost in transit and will not be responsible for any delay in delivery, damage to or loss in transit of the prize.
Personal information
- Each entrant’s personal information is collected to enable Spencil to administer and promote this Competition and the winner.
- All entrants agree to be added to the Spencil Mailing List and receive promotional material by email and/or SMS. Mailing list recipients have the right to opt out at any time.
- The personal information of winners may be provided to third parties who are assisting Spencil, including deliverers and authorities that regulate competitions.
- Entrants who fail to provide all requested personal information may be determined by Spencil, at its sole discretion, to be ineligible to win a prize.
Use of artworks
- Spencil shall have perpetual license to use all entries, including the winning artworks, in marketing and promotions, particularly for future Spencil Art Prize competitions, as well as in product design, in original or modified form.
- Use of the artworks for these purposes will be at Spencil’s discretion and with no further compensation to the artist.
- This license to use the artwork for these commercial purposes is not a transfer of copyright which remains with the artist.
General
- Errors and omissions may be accepted at Spencil’s discretion. Failure by Spencil to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights.
- Spencil reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who Spencil has reason to believe has breached any of these conditions or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the competition. Spencil’s legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
- If for any reason the competition is not capable of running as planned, including due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other causes beyond the control of Spencil, which corrupt or affect the administration security, fairness or integrity or proper conduct of this competition, Spencil reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
- In the case of the intervention of any outside agent or event which naturally changes the result or prevents or hinders its determination, including but not limited to vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest or strikes, Spencil may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition and recommence it from the start on the same conditions at a later date.
